It’s with great pleasure that we announce the winners and finalists of the 2026 swamp pink Prizes in Fiction, Nonfiction, & Poetry. The winners will each receive $2,000 and their work will appear in swamp pink no. 27 this September.

We received several outstanding entries, and after much deliberation our judges have made the following selections.

Philip Metres selected Brandel France de Bravo’s “The Five Remembrances” as the winner of the swamp pink Poetry Prize.

Arah Ko’s “It Once Rained on Earth for a Million Years” and Taha Ahmar Qadeer’s “brother” were chosen as poetry prize finalists.

Zara Chowdhary selected LC Killingsworth’s “Everything’s Fine at the Greenbrier” as the winner of the swamp pink Nonfiction Prize.

Audrey Bauman’s “Of Other Spaces, a Remix” and Flávia Monteiro’s “We Tell Ourselves Duck Stories in Order to Live” were chosen as nonfiction prize finalists.

Gene Kwak selected Reese Lopez’s “Satyricon” as the winner of the swamp pink Fiction Prize.

Colleen Rosenfeld’s “Changeling” and Katherine Hansen’s “Frog!” were chosen as fiction prize finalists.

Congratulations to all of these wonderful writers! We are grateful to everyone who entered and are happy to have had so many exceptional stories, poems, and essays to consider.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s Prizes, which will begin accepting entries on January 1, 2027.
