Girl Accepts Forgiveness
Schyler Butler | Poetry
Even then, we were blessed
to endure a suffering
so Christ-like our enemy
had to shape-shift God
into their likeness
else all the stolen language
would be fodder for tricksters,
our entrails honey for their bread
in warm baskets of forgetting
since our Lord so easily
gives us what we want.
